Taco Town

Making a movie, I spend hours everyday at the ASU computer lab. I have come to love the people who work there and those who come to edit their own work on a regular basis. I remember when Uncle Don started teaching and he described the experience by saying: "I am in my element." Well, that's how I feel when I am with other artists. I felt that way when I was involved in the Theory of the Red Nebula play. I love to be surrounded by people who are constantly "on." "On" in the way that the horoscope above describes.

I was wondering what was in the air, astrologically speaking, on Thursday, because we were wild at the computer lab that night. It was like a party, and that doesn't usually happen. We wear headphones and keep it pretty quiet. But, John, the lab aid, decided to air Music Videos from the 80s, as we all sang New Edition and Peter Setara songs in unison. Then we had to watch a message from our sponsor, Taco Town:

I was in my element.
I love artists.
I love what I do.
And I love you, too:D

I am so thrilled to hear that you are in your element. I know the music library was the "place" for me. Everyone had that "on" and I recall every so once in awhile the librarian would even join us in the fun. The music library is not a 'quiet' place by any means.

yes, hilarious commerical but watched it at an inoportune time. I was going to just fix meself some lunch but going to wait.... I do not know, all of that food slabbed together. Ohmygoodness!!! :)

I am glad you are having joys in your creative environment.

Sorry, it seems I've spoiled your appetite AGAIN!!!

I am having a ball, and it's nice to know that you have experienced the place I love.

No, I think it was the detox tea that killed my appetite. I just happened to view the commerical that made me realize I really was not hungry after all.

It's a privilege to be in your element, Swedehart, oh so wonderful. I'm glad you treasure it.

Thanks:D

Do these videos make it hard to pull up my blog with dial-up?

It really is special to find your element while you're young, Swedehart! I feel like I just found mine a couple years ago!!! :) Congratulations to us both.

What is your element? I guess for me, the tricky part is to maintain my ability to be immersed in my element. So many times I am tempted to follow an easier path that is not exactly in line with what I really want for monetary gains. Any advice?

awesome swedehart, that is such an amazing feeling. nothing replaces that. i'm so happy for you.

on another note...that commercial was hilarious! keep up the inspiring work cuz, i'd love to see a clip of your film someday....nice to at least see some sneak previews!

and i wish you so much luck. may you always have the motivation to do what you love, and also hopefully make money doing it. it's definitely a process.

i was very seriously in to induatrial documentaries. And there was lot of money there, i had to sit and edit continuously for 48 hours, no sleep, shooting schedules, meeting deadlines, client'swhims. i realised i was not enjoying my life. just hopping from one assignment to the other. i gave up and stopped accepting assignments. Chose to live with little money.

I know how you feel, Rauf. Finally, someone who understands the plight of making a movie. It's only an hour long, but I cannot even imagine how many hours I have put in. The difficulty is that I have to work around the schedule of the lab hours. I also live with little money... But, Swede is graduating, and we both have student loans, so it looks like we are both going to start getting serious about making money. I still don't want a job-job. I want to use the movie and the music he is composing to make money... so we'll see what happens:D

I didn't know that about you, rauf. It sounds miserable. And Rachel, it might be miserable for one person, but if you have a passion for the outcome, it will be worth it.

I definitely have a passion for the outcome. I just started booking shows today- 5 in 3 hours! Still had time to knit, do laundry, cook curry and go for several walks with Roxi!
